Creative Dance with Maria Svensson. K.C.C.

Fifth and Sixth Class were treated to 6 weeks of workshops with Maria Svenssonson

They interpreted the creation of the Solar System through movement and music.

Each group represented a planet and each planet dance was unique, expressing its physical characteristics

Maria had a wonderful ability to elicit dance from all the children.

They dressed the part too!

Thank you, Maria. Teachers and children were so inspired!

Thanks to Ms Claire Murphy for organising the workshops.

K.C.C. Writer in Residence Gives a Workshop

Máire Holmes enthralled children and teachers alike, as she elicited great ideas and descriptive vocabulary, while exploring poetry.

Fourth class were very attentive.

Máire had a wonderful way of getting the children to contribute and to laugh!

Ms Claire organised this for Fourth and Fifth class as we acknowledge WORLD BOOK DAY in two weeks time. Children should visit the poetry section in the town library and enjoy reading poetry aloud at home. That,s when it really comes alive.

Also try writing poetry. It’s not just for Valentine’s Day, you know!

A Wonderful Gathering.

We prayed for our grandparents who couldn’t be with us on the day.

We were delighted with the turn out. Our grandparents received a very warm welcome

Donal and Maree were thrilled with the beautiful handmade gifts which 6th class presented: A compilation of poetry, wooden name-plaques, framed tissue-flowers.

Mary Leen, a stained-glass artist from Catherleaheen spoke passionately to the children about following their dreams. Her abstract ‘Glass Box’ symbolised the ‘flame of inspiration’ which is ignited by teachers such as Maree and Donal.

‘The flames spread and grow brighter and stronger’.

The Tunnel of Fame was enjoyed by all our visitors. The children cheered their grandparents, parents, Maree, Donal, Eileen, friends and the odd rogue teacher![/caption]

Hurray for Sir!!

Here comes Ms Maree….

They keep on coming…

Is that Queen Liz and King George I see?

Of course, the best part is always the cake…..

Ms Adrienne prepared this simple but beautiful altar- wicker baskets filled to the brim with the children’s crosses. (We were not going to run out of crosses this year!)

Ms Moira came early to help and to admire the colourful entrance which Ms Gillian erected with Sixth Class

Ms Geraldine had a heavenly touch…..And lots of goodies for everyone
