Junior Infant children: We ask parents of Junior Infants to arrive at 9 am on the first day. All other children will be in their classrooms by then and cars will have pulled away, making it calmer and safer for our new VIPs!  Junior Infant parents should collect their Junior Infants at noon during the first two weeks of September.
The staff will accept responsibility for all the children at 8.45 am. during the school year. Parents are strongly advised not to send children to school before 8.30am. Children remain in cars until a staff member opens the gate at 8:30 am.
Children leave the school at 2.30 pm ‘home-time’, unless otherwise advised. Junior and Senior Infants should be collected at the gate at 1.30 pm.  Please notify your child’s teacher if arrangements change for collecting your child from school. This is especially important for Infant children.

Brookview After-School Ltd. provides a daily after-school service for pupils between 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Please contact the school for contact details.

School Policies.

Acceptance of our Code of Behaviour is required when registering and accepting your child’s enrolment.

Our school policies are available to view on this website. These important documents define the ethos, and procedures that we strive to uphold in Caherleaheen NS.

Administration of Medication to Students
Parents are asked to comply with the following procedures:

Parents who wish their children to have a member of staff administer prescribed medication must provide the principal with:

1. A written statement from the student’s doctor authorising a staff member to administer the prescribed medication. The statement should also clarify the necessary directions and specify any special precautions.
2. The administration of non-prescribed medicines kept by the school will be carried out within the definition of care and only if parents have given their written or oral approval.

Security

All visitors to the school are obliged to check in at the office before proceeding towards classrooms or meeting rooms.

Safety

Do not drop children at the front gate. ALWAYS park by the Pedestrian Line and escort your child to and from the school gate.
Drivers are asked to vacate parking spaces promptly and with care for other arrivals and young pedestrians.

There are phones in the office if you need to contact your child or vice versa. Students are also forbidden from bringing such devices to school activities outside the school grounds eg sports activities, school tours, and any other school-related outing.

Internet Safety

Please note that our school’s internet activity is monitored centrally by the school’s broadband system at NCTE in Dublin. All inappropriate material is blocked. If you have a concern, please contact the principal or call NCTE at 1800 334466.

Enrolment

We operate an open enrolment policy on a first come first served basis with the proviso that siblings of children already enrolled in the school, siblings of children who have left the school, the catchment area and children of past pupils get first preference. Our Admissions Policy and Enrolment Forms are available on this website and in the office. Prospective parents are advised to complete this form without delay in November/December, ie the year before a child is due to start in Caherleaheen.

We firmly believe that our teaching and assistive staff are your partners. Therefore, communication and dialogue between parents and staff is greatly encouraged. Your child’s happiness and well-being is just as important to us as it is to you.
