All our parents attended the official launch of our books, which Ms Ann published for us through Story Bird. Each one of us got to see the final product for the first time today! We worked for many weeks creating, writing, typing and editing our stories. Our parents were thrilled with our beautifully illustrated glossy books. We read our stories to our parents. What a beautiful day to paint a fence. Fifth class came well-prepared. They wore old clothes and some brought brushes. Ms Mary bought the paint and brushes. Mr Liam and Ms Gemma helped too. This was a really enjoyable activity, while some of Fifth Class were away at a soccer blitz.

Tara, Marie, Maura, Mums , Dads, teachers, children, neighbours and friends all helped with a big Spring Clean! A very satisfying activity at home, but an intriguing maths activity at school. Everyone tried to estimate how much we would make from this fund raiser. 1kg = 50c…… 10kg=€5.00…..100kg= €50.00 But what was the average weight of each bag…..and how many bags were stacked in the hall? 1140kg was hoisted into the Clobber Lorry and therefore €570 for Caherleaheen N.S. Fantastic!

In an effort to fulfil our Green Flag commitments, the children embraced the challenge of making models of bikes, at home, from recycled materials…..Please check out the blogs for Fifth Class and our Green Flag. 🚲If only we could have given an Easter Egg to all our designers/engineers…….

We were honoured to to be chosen as sole judges for the Dingle Animation Film Festival! First and Second Classes judged 13 short animations from the very best animators in the industry, both nationally and internationally renowned. Each child marked each film from 1 to 5 marks, 5 being the ultimate score. Sixth Class tallied the scores. Our very own acclaimed animator from Fifth Class gave his personal and expert view point. Mr Paul will attend the Award Ceremony next weekend and present the Children’s Choice Award to the winner.

Three heads really are better than one. Mar a deireann an seanfhocal ‘ Is fearr dhá/trí chloigeann ná ceann’

The Bramble Club linked up with Coillte and Third Class to plant thirty trees in Ballyseedy Woods. Gillian Wharton led the ‘Bramblers’ and Ciaran Nugent of Coillte led the planting. Thank you so much! The children will keep an eye on their ‘tree nursery’ for years to come.Great work, in less than an hour.More photos on Third Class ‘blog’…..

Fourth Class attend IT Tralee for Engineer Week. Many thanks to all the parents who dropped and collected.We were treated to a fascinating insight into Bloodhound the supersonic car that hopes to break a world record by travelling at 1050 miles per hour. Special thanks to engineer David Price for our workshop.

After a great demonstration by Ryan we found out that a crumpled piece of paper has much less air resistance .

Dave explains what the crack of the whip really means .

The crack a whip makes is produced when a section of the whip moves faster than the speed of sound creating a small sonic boom.

Dave demonstrates Newtons third law showing us for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction.

The balloon goes up to much delight, but where shall it land ??

Lovely to see our school crest on our new jerseys. Many thanks due to our sponsor Paul Fitzgibbon of Fitzgibbon Interiors, who called in on Friday to make sure that they fit and that our footballers are up to the challenges and training ahead! Mr Paul has full faith and no fears. “Go néirí an bothar libh!”.

Are you brave enough to look at these photos of our gymnasts? Our kids are FEARLESS! So too are Shona White and Steven Donovan, our I.T.Tralee students who taught our children how to balance and trust gravity (and each other!). A wonderful and well organised series of lessons……thank you Shona and Steven.

What an interesting day! Thanks to the children from Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes our youngest pupils were given sugar-free and timeless treats: Good stories! (very Lent-friendly).So many unusual characters wandering our corridors, ruffling their skirts, preening their feathers and wings, straightening their trousers, adjusting their spectacles, sharing books and whispering spells….

Thanks are due to all our parents for digging out their children’s costumes and locating their favourite books. Special thanks too to Ms Claire Murphy, Ms Gemma, Ms Adrienne, Ms Claire Slattery and all the young and old bookworms. Long live paper and print and imagination!

The teachers and children were busy mixing batters, tossing pancakes and finger licking. Its quite incredible how many pancakes were produced from such a small kitchen……a lovely aroma and just the odd puff of smoke!
